Our volunteers are willing to help with, carrying groceries, run errands, give rides, entertain (i.e. sing, dance, and make you laugh!), help out with making phone calls, writing letters and reading, help with cleaning and help with cooking.
Currently over 10,000 volunteers are standing by awaiting your call. Our volunteers want to give back to the community or occupy their free time, in addition to gaining wisdom from being in contact with elders. They come from all walks of life and have created a profile for you to read in order to get to know them and make an educated decision for choosing a helper when the time is right for you to get care or companionship.
I was so lucky to find Elder Helpers on the web ... and even luckier that Laura decided to help me get organized. I was hit by a car in January and couldn't do much in my apt for several months so things really got messy here ... but this Angel of a person came and rescued me. I am so lucky and grateful to have met her and to have received her generous help. ~ Kim New York, NY.
This program is the Grace that many in old years and disability need. It gives me hope that I can be connected with a human being that knows how big the smallest of acts of time and service can be. The skin of a hand, sharing company, or the opening of hearts, each requires two being together. ~ Joan Austin, TX
